- Crystal RadiosHi All, The diode on my crystal radio is broken, I want to change a new one. I found an old item 1SS86/Hitachi from ebay as below: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134957254013 What is the real performance compare with 1N60P? anybody know about it?Like
- Solid State RadiosI miss the old Radioboard but have found a nice replacement thanks to the talented contributors on this forum. I wanted to post largely to get feedback from others who have the capabilities of building some of these circuits. My first post is a medium wave regenerative receiver using a series regulator as the regenerative oscillator and a shunt regulator as an audio amplifier. The inductor is a standard medium wave ferrite rod tapped inductor from a transistor radio. An unusual attribute of the circuit is that it can function as an acceptable superregen receiver in the medium wave broadcast band. I would look forward to feedback from any others who might be interested in constructing this circuit and hearing of their results.Like
- The Radio ShackIt's in the Japanese language, but one of the more interesting shortwave broadcasts I've recently rediscovered when scanning the bands is "Furusato no kaze", which you can read about here: https://www.vk5pas.com/furusato-no-kaze-japan.html https://www.rachi.go.jp/en/index.html Here in Japan the broadcast is quite easy to pick up, although the broadcast is aimed at North Korea. It is targeted at Japanese citizens who were abducted by North Korea and who are presumably still being held there against their will, and the program's contents contain messages from the families to the abductees, without knowing whether the intended recipients can receive the messages or even if they are still alive or not. They also play traditional Japanese folk songs so that the abductees can reminisce about their homeland. It's poignant to try to imagine the life of the abductees, and to imagine that their only news about their homeland might come over a shortwave broadcast. It seems there's a similar Japanese shortwave broadcast, called "Shiokaze", but this one is apparently being jammed by North Korea.Like
